Turbine control bench

Test bench verifying the conformity of engines and turbines for medical respiratory equipment as part of a Research & Development process.

THE SOLUTION PROVIDED BY LF TECHNOLOGIES

Our client manufactures innovative medical equipment for patients with chronic respiratory diseases.

Main functions

Objective

Control breathing assistance turbine’s performance at several operating points of flow and pressure..

PROBLEMATIC ISSUES

Our client is developing a new product, he wants to test the conformity of the engine and the turbine before the final assembly. He also wants Research and Development tests to certify improvements and make the control more reliable.

SOLUTION AND RESULT

Calculations have shown that the basic principle of control can generate “false negatives”, i.e. it can potentially rule out good parts.
LF Technologies has therefore proposed a system enabling one of the parameters (speed) to be set precisely by means of an automatic servo-control, and also enabling tests to be carried out on a complete curve (flow rate, pressure, etc.) rather than on operating points (which are too restrictive) thanks to a proportional valve specifically designed to ensure good progressiveness and virtually zero pressure drop at full opening.
In addition, the automated fixing of the product eliminated a measurement hazard due to the deformation of the flexible body.
LF Technologies has developed an automatic, transportable bench capable of plotting pressure/flow curves at several rotation speeds with a pressure drop of only 10 mbar at 400 l/min.

The turbine-engined is used to generate the flow of air sent to the patient. The breathing apparatus adapts the flow and pressure of the airflow by controlling the turbine speed, according to the patient’s needs.

OUR KEY TEST MODULE FOR THIS Turbine Test Bench Mo-A-Aspi

The suction module is used to extract dust during machining operations or to extract fumes during laser marking, welding, etc.

BENEFITS

  • Ensures the cleanliness of the machine and products for machining operations;
  • Operator safety in relation to MO smoke emissions
Dust and fume extraction module
