Main functions

The torsion test rig can test samples up to 1,000 Nm and 400°/min, according to programmable cycles, until they break.

It automatically measures torsional stiffness and deformation energy. The sample is attached to a sliding headstock, enabling testing of samples of variable lengths up to 500 mm.

Torque measurement is provided by a strain-gauge torquemeter, and deformation angle is measured by a high-resolution encoder.

Operating mode

The test sample is clamped on 2 chucks with concentric jaws. The 1st chuck, which is fixed in rotation, is mounted on a sliding headstock that can be adjusted in translation. The 2nd chuck is driven in rotation by a brushless geared motor equipped with a backlash compensation system. The user sets a rotation speed, a minimum angle and a maximum speed. and max. or min. torque and max. as well as a number of cycles. The software automatically measures the rotational stiffness coefficient and the energy absorbed by the sample at each cycle.
